Folketrygdfondet exercises active ownership in several arenas. We emphasise communication of our guiding principles, as well as the use of transparent and accessible methods.
We issue updates on our active ownership work in various arenas during the course of the year:
- Company dialogue
- General meetings
- Nomination committees and governing bodies
We also publish an annual summary in Folketrygdfondet’s annual report and ownership report.
Our guiding principles
Folketrygdfondet’s board has adopted principles to guide our responsible investment activities and active ownership, based on the UN Global Compact, the OECD Principles of Corporate Governance, the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and the Norwegian Code of Practice for Corporate Governance.
The document “Folketrygdfondet’s active ownership” describes our practical implementation of the principles.
Our guidance documents set out our expectations as to how companies should handle key issues such as strategy, capital structure, and financial targets, anti-corruption efforts, executive remuneration, environmental considerations, human rights and workers’ rights.
All our active ownership activities reflect five key ownership issues we have defined as fundamental to our dialogue with portfolio companies.
A comprehensive presentation of Folketrydfondet’s investment strategy and active ownership work can be found under “Investment management”.
